I am my best work— a series of road maps, reports, recipes, doodles, and prayers from the front lines. - Audre Lorde
California, always dreaming.

Sometimes I just want to move to NorCal, where because the pace of life is slower I will have time to really get into exercise. I’ll live a slow, pure existence until a stinking rich super cool socially-concious tech mogul sweeps me off my feet. He will of course be very down to earth. We’ll spend weekends in Santa Barbara or Napa, tending our vines.

new york 10/15/12.

lots of people cry when coming or going from new york, but this time i was coming back, and i was not crying.

After I bought the table.
My father is telling me about tables…appropriate thickness for the top, wood: Asian, domestic, pressure-treated versus hardwood like maple. This is how he loves me, passing on discerning taste and the merits of quality versus mass production from one generation to the next.
on smelliness.
my acupuncturist told me to eat garlic when i feel like i’m coming down with something. i trust her because when i go to her and she sticks 20 or 30 needles in me, i feel … zingers. buzzed. high. light. free. peaceful. connected. flowing.
but to eat garlic, raw, and on a cracker with olive oil — which actually sounds tasty if i say so myself— means being smelly and we’re just not a smelly culture.
what we need is to be smelly. smelly foods are good for us.
leather,wind
i want my man to smell like leather and wind…all the things a man smelled like before proctor and gamble made him in a lab and now every other man on the street smells like some version of roll on man scent.
Things I’ve got to write down because this list is using up my RAM.

1. No angels, just humans.

2. There is not friendship when the affair is over, except for the rare instance when there is. Sort of.

3. It’s perfectly fine to think marriage has gotten bastardized, but to marry anyway for the tax break and the inseparable soul union is absolutely fine.

4. Don’t worry about tomorrow.

5. Anything is possible, and some things are just not.

THE SOUL selects her own society,
Then shuts the door;
On her divine majority
Obtrude no more.
